First image of a multi planet system around a sun like star
The above image shows the first time that more than one planets have been observed orbiting a star.
The star is named TYC 8998-760-1.
The image was taken by SPHERE instrument on ESO's Very Large Telescope.
I am quite fascinated by astrophysics I do not understand much but from what I do understand, the universe is a vast place with infinite possibilities. The thing I love about it is that it expands our horizon. Once you realize how small we really are in the grand scheme of things, it is very humbling and at the same time exciting because there is an infinite amount of room to explore. The above image is an example of that. In the past scientists were able to theorize the existence of exoplanets, afterwards they were able to detect them and take images of single planets and now they are taking images of multiple planets at the same time. This can provide valuable information in figuring out how our solar system evolved.
Located around 300 light years from us, this is in our cosmic neighborhood. Still, using conventional rockets, it is out of our reach for now. But who knows what the future holds, we might find much faster ways to travel and become a space faring race. Hopefully we will have solved all the issues plaguing humanity today, especially and most importantly the class issue.
In Pakistan we are still stuck with the question of looking for the moon, our closest companion in the cosmos, on every EID. This is no problem in this day and age but still the center of controversy every time. There is no effort to promote this field in our country because every male child should become an engineer and every female child should become a doctor. This is the requirement of this system which only wants workers not thinkers. We must challenge this and until this mindset changes we will stay this way.
Given the opportunity I would go into space and see as much of it as possible maybe even a black hole, a man can dream can't he?
